Floric NYC
April 2023
We have been known to dabble in art, in one way or another, so when a designer approached us with this fantastic design idea for a doggy day care, we were all in.
The floor had some issues and needed some remediation before we could begin any artwork. First we scarified and grinded the entire concrete surface clean. Next, we applied a water proofing membrane since the slab was exhibiting a high vapor rate. Next we poured a self leveling underlayment to create a new canvas to work on. We primed, then poured a thick self leveling coat of green epoxy as our new background.
The challenge then was to get the art to scale similar to the drawing. Being that it was a cartoon, we just hand drew it with grease pencils and had the designer sign off on it before committing to coloring everything in. Once artwork was completed, we sealed it with a high traffic polyurethane and high wear additive. This was incredibly important to protect it from dogs scratching into it and easy to clean from any pet accidents.
In the end, we provided not only a beautifully artistic floor but also a floor that will last the rigors of any animal care facility. Contact us anytime if you have an artistic design idea you want implemented to a floor.
