Rimadesio NYC

October 2022

This floor started out with demolition of multiple layers of flooring, only to discover a unique penny tile design from Exchange Buffet in 1885. Once a symbol of peace and good luck, I'm assuming it was buried in a new layer of floor after the Nazis took power.

After demolition, we diamond grinded the tile to create a surface profile and applied a bonding primer. Next, we pumped 1 inch of USG ProFlow hybrid self-leveling concrete in the Cellar and 1st floor. After the concrete was cured out in a couple of weeks, we returned to apply the finish.

After diamond grind prepping the newly poured underlayment, we applied an acrylic bonding primer and began to trowel multiple coats of Ardex SDM in a custom color, createing a hard trowel concrete look. We then sealed it with multiple coats of water based polyurethane in a matte finish for long lasting protection. This is our Derma flooring system and you can learn more about it on our website
